At Legal & General House in Tolworth, Surrey. A car sharing system was introduced in January 1999, which grew to an average of 170 cars per day. Other initiatives include, postcode mapping, flexible working, home working, interest free season ticket loans, interest free loans to buy bicycles, discounted loans on mopeds, walk to work initiative, shared transport, train ticket discounts, travel discussed at interview with new employees, minibus service for temporary and contract staff, restricting visitors, video/audio conferencing and dedicated car parking for cars sharers.

In late 2004 Legal & General re-launched its car sharing system with Surrey County Council and introduced a compulsory 4-day parking system along with a regular shuttle bus service.

Legal and General currently realise almost 600 members with the probability of a matched journey which stands at 1:2. Presently each employee member personally saves an average of 3,909 miles per annum.
